  2. WORK SESSION FOR TEACHERS AT THE LIBRARY:
- PROPOSAL TO USE THE eTwinning TOOL

14.00: STUDENTS GO WITH THEIR HOST FAMILIES.

14.00: TEACHERS LUNCH AT “LA TASCA DE MI PUEBLO” RESTAURANT (about 15-20 € each)

THURSDAY 13TH

9.00: COORDINATION MEETING

- WELCOMING SPEECH BY THE HEADMASTER, JOSÉ ARCADIO SUÁREZ 

- OBJECTIVES OF OUR PROJECT AND WORK METHOD: ANTONIO LOZANO, COORDINATOR.

-PRESENTATION OF EVERY SCHOOL, CHARACTERISTICS, NUMBER OF STUDENTS, ETC.

- EXPOSITION OF EACH SCHOOL ABOUT THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF READING AND USE OF SCHOOL LIBRARIES, AND THEIR EXPECTATIONS FROM THIS PROJECT.

11.40: BREAKFAST AT TEACHERS´ STAFF ROOM.


  1. STUDENTS:

10.00. THE STUDENTS WILL FINISH THEIR POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS AND THERE WILL BE A REHEARSAL OF IT. A TEACHER FROM EACH HIGH SCHOOL WILL ACCOMPANY THEIR STUDENTS.

12.00: MEETING TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IN THE LIBRARY: EXPOSITION OF THE STUDENTS` POWER POINTS (15 MINS EACH MAXIMUM). POWER POINTS FROM GREECE AND ITALY WILL BE PRESENTED BY TEACHERS.

14.00: TEACHERS AND STUDENTS WILL BE INVITED TO HAVE LUNCH AT VILLA DE AGÜIMES (VOCATIONAL TRAINING SCHOOL).   

16.00 : TEACHERS AND STUDENTS Excursion to Maspalomas dunes.

21.00: TEACHERS: DINNER AT VILLA DE AGÜIMES RESTAURANT (15-20 € each)

12.45: READING ACTIVITIES BY TEACHERS AND STUDENTS.


14.00: TEACHERS´ LUNCH
FREE AFTERNOON AND DINNER


SATURDAY 15TH:


9.00: TEACHERS AND STUDENTS:  VISIT TO LAS PALMAS, OLD TOWN AND BENITO PÉREZ GALDÓS HOUSE.

13.00: RETURN TO AGÜIMES
TEACHERS WHO WANT TO STAY IN LAS PALMAS (SHOPPING AREA) CAN HAVE LUNCH ON THEIR OWN AND RETURN (40 MINUTES BY BUS).

21.00: MEETING AT THE CHURCH FRONT DOOR FOR FAREWELL DINNER IN ARINAGA BEACH (about 20€ each)

OBJECTIVES: TO READ IS TO GROW

  1. Exchanging experiences among schools to promote creative reading and the use of the school library
  2. To put into practice new initiatives in these schools resulting from the swap of experiences.
  3. To promote a research of a new proposal of work, especially those referring to the appliance of basic competences through reading programmes.
  4. To use methods to attend mixed ability students from the fostering of the use of reading as well as school libraries.
  5. To promote a long term and permanent group of work among the schools, regarding the topic of this project.
  6. To make our students adopt a positive attitude towards reading to understand it as a tool of training, widening our knowledge about our world as well as enjoyment.
  7. To improve writing skills and promote the use of creative writing.
  8. To encourage the use of the library to reinforce the reading habit and the searching of information
  9. To foster the reading habit among parents, students and teachers.
  10. To get students closer to literature and writers.
  11. To promote positive values, especially those related to solidarity, human rights, equality and democracy.
  12. To be aware of the latest news reading them in the newspapers, internet, forums, websites…..  
  13. To broadcast the results of our work making a book concentrating all this information to be used by the other partners in Europe.

The main objective is that these aims influence on:

  • Improving reading, writing and the use of the school library.
  • Working together in common projects parents, teachers and students to achieve better results..
  • Acquiring the best tools to consolidate or strengthen the reading and writing skills.
